M. Perkins, who formerly lived south of this city. Miss Perkins, in company with Cleora Smith and several other children, had gone to a water hole in the Colorado river to wade. Miss Perkins stepped into a hole washed out by the recent rains, and before her companions realized her predicament, was beyond their reach. She was unable to swim, and while the Smith girl is said to have made every possible effort to save her, owing to Miss Perkins' frightened struggles, was unable to get her ashore. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
