(27 Jul 1928, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK):
Boy Loses Life In Raging Stream
Youth Is Swept Down Stream After Being Almost Rescued By Brother.
Luther Perry, sixteen year old boy living in the Highway community,
northeast of Carter, was drowned in Saddler creek last Sunday afternoon.
The boy and his older brother were playing on the creek bank and the
younger boy in some way slipped into the creek.  His brother got hold of
him and almost succeeded in getting him to the bank when he was caught by
the whirling water of the creek which was rising because of the big rain.
The body was found several hours later almost a mile below having caught
in a drift.
Interment was made in the Ural cemetery.
