L. Melvin of Woodward, but formerly of Elk City, passed through here Tuesday en route to Oklahoma City, having been called there because of the death of her niece, Miss Cora Phelan (sic), one of the teachers killed in an auto accident there by the northbound Santa Fe train while attempting to cross the tracks at South Fifty-first street in a Ford automobile. Another lady and a boy was killed and two other young ladies seriously injured.
