(24 Feb 1927, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): SUDDEN CAR STOP KILLS SMALL GIRL. A sad accident occurred Northwest of Texola Monday evening about 7 o'clock. Mr. Wallace Potts was called to Clinton to the bedside of his mother who was not expected to live. Mrs. Potts and the 2 children were driving to her sisters, Mrs. Whitehead, to spend the night, after her lights had gone out she hit a post, hurling her little daughter, Anita, four years old, through the windshield, cutting her throat. She died instantly. Dr. Stagner was called to Mrs. Potts, who was prostrated with grief. Mr. Potts was called back home that night, and received word immediately after he returned that his mother had passed away. Both bodies were carried to Texola Wednesday where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hutchinson of Erick, and interment in the Texola Cemetery.
