When the neighbors visited the home where the two lived they found Quinn already dead. A coroner's inquest was held Monday but brought out nothing that could positively clear the matter, or lead to anything but the conclusion that despondency and poor health had caused the rash act. Frank was well known about this city, of a very quiet and unassuming nature, and had many friends among those who had known him for years. His reserved nature did not permit of his making friends quickly, but to come to know him, disclosed many traits of character which made fast friends of those who really understood him. Quinn was 40 years of age, having been born in Texas, August 21, 1882, and came with his parents to the Sweetwater section in an early day, being pioneer residents of that section. (26 Jan 1922, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Our community was shocked to hear of the passing away of Frank Quinn. On Monday night, Jan. 16th, he shot himself. The neighbors were roused by a man who roomed with him but by the time they reached the house Frank was already dead. There was a coroner's inquest held which brought out nothing that would clear the matter other than the conclusion that despondency and poor health had caused him to commit so rash an act. Frank Quinn was 40 years old. He moved with his parents from Texas to the Sweetwater community. He was of a quiet unassuming nature, and had many friends among those who knew him best. His reserved nature did not permit of his making friends quickly, but to know him disclosed many traits of character, which, made fast friends of those who really understood him. Frank's word was his bond as he knew the lesson of thoughtfulness, honor and honest. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
