All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ RICHARDSON, ETHEL MAE (Feb 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Ethel Richardson, 17 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Richardson, who live on a farm two miles west and three miles north of Elk City, died in an Elk City hospital Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock from injuries received when she fell from the top of the steps at school last Thursday. Ethel, who is a sophomore in the Elk City high school, had run up the steps for something and in starting down she stumbled at the head of the steps and fell headlong. Although she felt badly shaken up and sore there was not great alarm and she attended the "Aunt Lucia" performance at the high school Thursday night. After she returned home it is said she developed a chill. She was carried to the hospital where her condition rapidly became worse and internal injuries developed complications. Ethel was a sophomore in Elk City high school and was well liked among the school students. She was a member of the Broadway Methodist church and a regular attendant of Miss Wheeler's "Winner" class. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Broadway Methodist church. Members of the Sunday school class were honorary pall bearers. Boys of the sophomore class acted as pall bearers.
