R. Richardson (sic) was drowned Monday afternoon about 6 P.M. at the Deitrich lake just east of Sayre. A crowd of boy scouts had gone out for a swim, and Clarence was among the first of the boys in the water; he called to the others, but they thought that he was just playing with them, and did not realize that he was in danger until too late to save him. As quickly as possible, after realization of his plight, the boys rescued him, and one of them came immediately for medical aid while the others resorted to the first aid measures taught by Scout rules. He was beyond aid however, and when the doctor arrived, he was dead. Clarence was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Richerson and was a general favorite with teachers and children and all who came in contact with him. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon and the remains laid to rest in the Doxey-Sayre cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community go out to Mr. and Mrs. Richerson in their hour of trouble.
