RIFFE, JOHN
(17 Mar 1911, Friday, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK):
John Riffe, of Lone Wolf, committed suicide Saturday of last week by
shooting out his brains with a pistol.  He was worth $12,000.00 and had no
financial difficulties to bother him.
Four years ago he was out hunting with a friend who accidentally shot out
one of his eyes.  A few months ago, while walking over a railroad he fell
with a pen knife in his hand.  The pen knife put the other eye out, so he
was blind.  This gave him pains about the head so much so that he finally
committed suicide.
A. D. Jones and wife of Sayre, J. Paul Jones, of Carter, went over to look
after him.  His sister, Mrs. E. A. Jones, of Grainola, Oklahoma, was also
there.  This is a sad blow upon the relatives who cannot understand why he
should commit suicide, as he was getting along financially as well as most
any one of them.
