All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ SIMMONS, FLOYD (24 Jan 1929, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): FLOYD SIMMONS KILLED IN ACCIDENT Monday evening at about 2 o'clock Floyd Simmons, age 23, who was head ginner for the Farmers Gin, located at Texola, was killed when he was caught in the cotton gin saws and jerked into the stand. No one witnessed the accident, and the first information that anything was wrong was when a man entered the gin and seen the body dangling from the stand. He gave the alarm and after the machinery was stopped it took almost two hours to extricate the body from the saws. His head was horribly cut. Mr. Fatheree, undertaker, said that he never seen a man so badly cut about the head, Mr. Simmons evidently met death instantly. The body was brought to the Fatheree Funeral home, where it was prepared for burial.
