Bland Sipple, 27, of Sayre, died in a Sayre hospital last night about 30 minutes after the Oldsmobile roadster he was driving collided with an oil truck driven by Will Ash of this city, on the paved highway "66" three miles east of Sayre. Funeral services for Mr. Sipple were read in Strong City (Roger Mills County) at 3:30 this afternoon. Interment was to be made in the cemetery there. The accident occurred about 8 o'clock last night. Mr. Ash was coming east on the highway when the roadster cut out and tried to go around an auto coming from the east, Mr. Ash said. Mr. Ash drove his truck off the pavement to avoid being struck by the small car, he said, but was unable to get away soon enough to keep the machine from sideswiping it. The platform along the side of the truck was torn off by the roadster, and one wheel of the roadster was knocked off in the impact. Mr. Sipple's arm, which was protruding over the side of the car door struck the rack on the truck and was lacerated and broken in three places. Mr. Sipple was suffering from loss of blood when he arrived at the hospital, it was reported, but it was necessary to amputate the mutilated arm. Soon afterward, he weakened and died. Fear of internal injuries were expressed. There was plenty of room for the roadster to pass the truck, persons who visited the scene of the accident, said. They could attribute no cause for the collision. The wheel of the small car which was knocked off was found about a hundred years down the highway. The car did not turn over and apparently was not greatly damaged, witnesses said. The striking of the rack on the truck caused Mr. Sipple to jerk his steering wheel and turn his machine into the oil truck. Mr. Sipple is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sipple and a daughter two and half years old. (11 Sep 1930, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Tragedy took another count here last night when the life of Bland Sipple, a contractor of Sayre, was snuffed out when his car collided with an oil truck from Elk City, near the golf course, three miles east of Sayre at 8 o'clock, Tuesday night. Although Sipple lived until 12 o'clock midnight he did not regain consciousness after the taking an anthesetic for the amputation of his right arm which was broken and bones pushed out of the flesh by the impact. While he was suffering from internal injuries it is thought he died from the loss of blood the flow of which the doctors were unable to stop. Sipple and the family moved to Sayre from Vernon, Texas, eight months ago. He had builded (sic) homes for John Salyer and for Ford Kent and had just completed a school building near Erick. The deceased is survived by his wife and small child, Marguerite Louise, age 4, and his father, mother and two brothers who now reside in this city. Funeral services will be held in Strong City (Roger Mills County) with Rev. Trent of the Baptist church, at Hammon officiating. Killough and Hullum are in charge of arrangements.
