A. SPANGLER, SUICIDES Found Sunday Morning by his Son, with a Wire Around His Neck. W. A. Spangler who lived about three and one-half miles southeast of Canute (Washita County), hanged himself Saturday night or Sunday morning. He went out to a nearby canyon, tied a wire around his neck and rolled off. He had had some little trouble from which he became demented and decided to end his life by that means. He was found by his son Sunday morning, who called in some neighbors, who took him loose from the wire, and a coroners inquest was held. He was buried at the Tate school house, Monday (Page Cemetery, Washita County). Mr. Spangler was a man about 50 years. He was always jolly and in good humor. This rash act was a shock to the neighbors. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
