(6 Jan 1927, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
WAS BLACK FRIDAY FOR PORTER
Daughter Killed in Auto Accident and Barn Burned the Same Day.
About two o'clock on Friday afternoon last W. J. Porter, of this city,
received a telegram announcing that his daughter, Mrs. Earl Swagerty, of
Los Angeles, California, had been killed in an auto accident, and at about
four o'clock on the same afternoon the barn on his farm, southwest of this
city, was destroyed by fire.  The barn contained a considerable quantity
of hay and feed, and two bales of cotton.  The cotton was removed from the
barn in a damaged condition.  The loss was partially covered by insurance.
