Ulmer received a telegram Monday from the Masonic Lodge at McGrath, Alberta, Canada, that his son, Henry Ulmer had been killed, having been crushed by a pole. Henry had been an electrical worker as lineman and it is supposed that the accident happened while he was looking after his work, for the telegram gave no particulars. Mr. Ulmer answered immediately that the body be shipped to Brookfield, Mo., to be laid at rest by the side of Henry's mother, who died over a year ago. The funeral services will be held on Sunday if the body reaches Brookfield by that time. Mr. Ulmer and his sons, Chas. and Ward of Elk City and A. H. Ulmer of Woodward will leave today for that place to attend the last sad rites. Another brother, Frank, lives in Florida, and a sister, Mrs. Cora Ridings at Brookfield, Mo. Frank (sic) Ulmer was born in Lostant, Ill., April 3rd, 1881 and died June 16, 1917, aged 36 years, 2 months and 13 days. When quite young he moved with his parents to Brookfield, Mo., living there until seventeen years ago, when they came to Oklahoma. For five years he has been out in the great Northwest, but visited Elk City some three years ago when his father was very ill. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Every one who knew Frank (sic) Ulmer speak of him in the highest terms. He lived a quite (sic) life and had many friends in Elk City who regret to learn of his untimely death. The father, brothers and sister have the deepest sympathy of all in the loss of this son and brother. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
