WATSON, CHILD
(3 Nov 1905, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Burned to Death
A very sad accident occurred at the home of Frank Watson, Friday, October
13th, two miles east of Poarch, in which they lost their baby by being
burned to death.  It seems that Mrs. Watson had gone to the well about 150
yards distant, for a bucket of water, leaving their two small children in
their house alone.  When Mrs. Watson returned with the water she found her
youngest child with the clothes nearly burned off him.  He lived about two
hours.  The wind was blowing at the time and it is supposed that a box of
matches blew down from a shelf and ignited, thus setting fire to the boys'
clothing.  He was eighteen months old.  The funeral service was conducted
by Elder Weaver at the Poarch cemetery on Saturday evening.
