An accident occurred at the farm of Fred Livingston, south of this city, on Friday evening last which resulted in the death of Robert Wright on Saturday night. It seems that the young man had been working on the Livingston farm and Friday night came in for supper, proceeding to hang up his hat and at the same time started to hang up a gun, which he had been carrying in the field. He let the gun slip from his hand, and in falling the hammer struck the base board on the wall, discharging the gun. The ball struck Wright in the side passing upward and coming out near the shoulder. Physicians were summoned, and everything possible done for the wounded man, but he passed away about 24 hours later. Wright was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wright, of the Delhi section, and 24 years of age, and well known in this city. Funeral services were held Sunday with Rev. Stigler of the Baptist church officiating. Interment was in the Lone Oak Cemetery. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
