(6 Nov 1924, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): MARRIED 26 YEARS. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Cowan celebrated the twenty-sixth wedding anniversary of their wedding last Sunday at their home by serving a most wonderful dinner to several of their friends, among them being A. B. Martin and daughter, Hallie, and son Ray, and Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Blackburn. It would be easier to tell what was not on the table than to tell what it contained. The Cowans have a nice farm and it is well stocked with the best of Percheron horses and mares, fine cattle, hogs and about 300 chickens. He has 500 bushels of oats in his granery and will have about that many bushels of maize and kaffir. He also has lots of corn, showing that he is a most excellent farmer. He has always been assisted by his wife. Mrs. Cowan was formerly Dellar Tiffin and was married to W. C. Cowan in Jackson County, Alabama, on the 9th of November 1898. In the early day they came to eastern Oklahoma, later moved to Honey Grove, Texas, then moved to near Elk City seventeen years ago, owning the place they are now living on for the past ten years. They have shown what people can accomplish when they put their hands to the plow, as the saying goes, and now they will be able to take things more easy. The News Democrat join with their friends in wishing they may celebrate many more happy anniversaries. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
