AND MRS. J. M. DANNER WILL CELEBRATE FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Danner will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary at 2 p.m. Sunday in the parlor of the Sayre First Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. Danner were both born and reared in Macon, Missouri and were married there in 1898. They lived there one year following the marriage and came to Oklahoma Territory in the fall of 1899. The county was then Roger Mills. They have lived in Sayre since the town has existed. As a matter of fact, some of the land on which Mr. Danner filed was the place on which part of the city is built. Mr. Danner came to Oklahoma Territory in a covered wagon. Mrs. Danner joined him in Berlin. For the past month Mr. and Mrs. Danner have been visiting in the home of her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hood. They returned with them to Sayre for the celebration. There are three children in the Danner family, Mrs. J. C. Hood of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Melville Gillum, Marietta, Ga., and Melville Danner of Thomas. (11 Nov 1948, Thursday, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Danner Observe Golden Wedding Anniversary Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Danner, 408 North Fourth street, observed their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, October 31, with an anniversary family dinner at Allison's dining room at noon and a reception for their many friends at the church parlors of the First Methodist church from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Danner were married Nov. 2, 1898 at Macon, Mo. They came to Oklahoma Territory in 1899 and filed on the land which later became the Sayre townsite. Mr. Danner was owner of the City Market and Grocery for many years. Prior to retirement in June, he was in charge of the United Super Market department. He is a long time member of the Methodist church. Mrs. Danner is an active member of the Methodist church, of the Sel Culture Club and is a member of the D.A.R. Mr. and Mrs. Danner have reared three children. They are Mrs. J. C. Hood, Los Angeles, Calif., Melville Danner, Thomas, and Mrs. Neville Gillum, of Marietta, Ga., and have five grandchildren, who include Mrs. Calvin Keller, Thomas; Miss Darla Hood of Los Angeles, Calif., and Gary, Linda and Bill Gillum, Marietta, Ga. The lace covered refreshment table was centered with an anniversary bouquet of white and yellow mums topped with a gold satin covered wedding ring. Gold satin ribbon loops, caught with orange blossom nosegays, hung from the sides of the table. Floor baskets of mums in yellow, white and bronze with autumn leaves completed the golden anniversary theme. Mrs. Melville Danner assisted by Mrs. Calvin Jones, served the cake. The three-tiered cake was topped with a miniature bride and groom. Mrs. Tom Flournoy, Mrs. John Hullum and Mrs. W. T. Bingham presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. George Stovall and Mrs. G. W. Steckel registered the guests. Mrs. Oscar Ewton, Mrs. W. L. Ivester, Mrs. J. I. Lowry and the Danner family were in the receiving line. Miss Darla Hood, a granddaughter, related the story, "A Young Couple Going to New Country." Miss Hood also sang the vocal selections "Because", "I Love You Truly" and "Always". Mrs. Calvin Keller, a granddaughter, played soft music during the reception and was accompanist for the vocal numbers. Many lovely gifts were received by the couple and Mrs. R. A.
