J. DAVIS CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. The second most eventful time in the lives of Mr. And Mrs. J. M. J. Davis, pioneer citizens of this community, residing two miles southeast of this city, occurred Friday, August 15th, when they celebrated their 50th (Golden) wedding anniversary at their farm home with some hundred or more friends and relatives present to help in celebrating the occasion. The formality of reenacting the wedding ceremony, performed fifty years ago in Alabama, was resorted to, the marriage vows being administered by the Rev. S. N. Wilson, long time friend and former pastor of the couple, who used the ring ceremony with impressiveness befitting the occasion. Three sons: L. G., Jeff, and W. C. Davis and five daughters: Mesdames B. M. Adams, Guy Brock, J. H. Rhynard, Albert Martin, and Luda Brannon, with their respective families, were present to enjoy the big celebration with their father and mother. A feast of many good things to eat was spread under a huge arbor in front of the farm house the festivities lasting far into the day as the happy principles unfolded their career dating back fifty years.
