(19 Mar 1939, Sunday, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Miss Gladys Harman will go to Verden Sunday to attend the Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration of her parents, Rev. and Mrs. P. F. Harman. The celebration will take place in the Harman home in Verden. Decorations will be in a yellow and white color motif. The center table bouquet will be of yellow roses while other flowers will be calendulas and fern. Mrs. C. M. Craven, an old friend of the family, will preside at the guest book. Two hundred guests will attend. Open house will be held from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments of yellow and white brick ice cream and white cake with gold icing will be served. The wedding occurred at 4 p.m. March 21, 1889, in Birmingham, Mo., with Rev. Barrett officiating. The bride's maiden name was Lou Nellie Loback. Rev. Harman was pastor of the Birmingham church and his bride was the organist. Rev. Harman was a student at the William Jewel college. He is now 71 years of age and Mrs. Harman, 69. Rev. Harman has been a Baptist minister for 52 years. During that time he was associational missionary in the Caddo Baptist association for 15 years; Chickasaw association, three years; and Salt Fork Valley association, two years. He has baptized 5,446 persons during his ministry and has built the following Baptist churches in the state: Cyril, Okla.; Alden church; Boone Baptist church; Laverty church; Cedar Canyon church; Lookeba; Fairview, Pacasset; Apache, Spring Creek church; Corinth Baptist church; Norge, Okla., Binger, Cement, Alma, Verden, and two churches in Missouri, Birmingham and Waldron. All of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the couple will be present for the celebration. The children are: Mrs. R. H. Brown, Verden; Peter P. Harman, Amarillo, Tex.; Mrs. C. R. Ruse, Portales, N. M.; C. M. Harman, Tulsa; Paul Frank Harman, Anadarko; Howard Harman, Dallas, Tex.; and Geneva Marie Harman, Verden. The grandchildren are: R. H. Brown, jr., Verden, Okla.; Howard Harman, jr., Tulsa, Okla.; and Sidney Kiefer Harman, Tulsa.
