All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== HARRINGTON, JOE (18 Jan 1945, Thurs, Sayre Daily Headlight Journal, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): JOE HARRINGTONS CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Joe Harrington celebrated their golden wedding Friday, January 5, 1945, with open house from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. At 2 o'clock they were united in marriage with a single ring ceremony. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Kent and N. R. Winters officiated. Flower girls were the youngest granddaughters, Ruth, Dona Nell, Jaretta and Joyce Harrington. Lola Harrington sang a solo. Their ten children were present, 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 of Mrs. Harrington's sisters and Mr. Harrington's brother, Tim and family of Sayre, besides several nieces and nephews and 100 friends signed the guest book during the afternoon. The house was decorated with cut flowers and the lace covered table was centered with a 3-tiered wedding cake. Cake and coffee was served throughout the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harrington were married Jan.5, 1895, at Delhi, Oklahoma, and are indeed pioneers of this section. They have resided on their home place for over 40 years and are widely known, and their friends are numbered by their acquaintances. Besides rearing 10 children they have made a home for 8 other homeless children and reared them to honorable men and womanhood. Their children are Harley, Jess and Marvin of Berlin, Ernest of Oregon, Mrs. Pearl Veasey of Shamrock, Texas; Mrs. Ida Bennet of Amarillo, Mrs. Windsor Yonker and Mrs. May Irving of Fresno, Calif. and Mrs. Elmer McCraw of Berlin.
