(29 Dec 1962, Elk City Daily News, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hatchett were honored on their Golden Wedding anniversary with an open house at their home in Cordell on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 16. Hosts for the occasion were the couple's children, Donald Hatchett, Cordell; Carman Hatchett, Amarillo, Tex.; and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dale, Canute. Centering the serving table that was laid with a lace cloth was a three-tiered wedding cake. Crystal and silver appointments were used and gold candles flanked the cake. A granddaughter, JoAnn Dale, poured the punch, and two nieces, Mrs. Roderick Redivine and Mrs. Bob Hicks, served the cake and poured coffee. Others assisting were Mrs. Claud Carman, Marylin, Doris and Pat of Hydro, Mrs. Jimmy Smith, Elk City, and Mrs. Homer Fortune, Burns Flat. The guests were registered by another granddaughter, Jean Dale. The couple was assisted in opening their gifts by Glee Dale and Mrs. Phil Carman of Tulsa. Mr. and Mrs. Hatchett were married on Dec. 18, 1912, at Canute. They lived in and around Foss, except for one year in Colorado, until they moved to their present house in Cordell 10 years ago. There were approximately 130 friends and relatives that attended the occasion. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
