(7 Nov 1946, Thurs, Sayre Daily Headlight Journal, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
MR. AND MRS. C. P. HODGES SELEBRATE (sic) ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Hodges, 303 North Broadway, pioneer couple of western
Oklahoma, observed their golden wedding anniversary with a Sunday dinner,
October 27, at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Puryear of
Sweetwater.
The couple were wed at Lott, Texas, October 25, 1896 and have been
residents of Sweetwater community the past forty years.  They moved to
Sayre in January 1945.  They are long time members of the Meridian Baptist
church and Mrs. Hodges was an active member of the Meridian H. D. C.  They
are the parents of five children and five grandchildren.
Their children are Mrs. Bill Puryear and Mrs. Charles Puryear of
Sweetwater, Mrs. Jeff Price of Dumas, Texas, John and Honda of Arvin,
California.
Autumn decorations and baskets of yellow and white chrysanthemums
enlivened the room.  The dining table was centered with a three tiered
wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom.  The punch bowl was
encircled with baby yellow and white mums.
The couple received many lovely gifts from their children and friends.
Approximately sixty guests attended the dinner and many old friends called
in the afternoon.
