ANNIVERSARY:  MR. AND MRS. C. E. HURD
(1 Jan 1948, Thursday, Sayre Sun, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Hurd of Doxey celebrated their Golden Wedding
anniversary with a dinner and open house in the afternoon, Thursday,
December 25, at the home of their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. G. M.
Price, 214 North Third street.
Mr. and Mrs. Hurd were married at Greenwood, Arkansas, December 25, 1897,
by Rev. J. E. Simms and they came to Lawton from Texas in 1922.  They
moved to their farm near Sayre in 1922.  They are members of the First
Baptist Church.
They are parents of five children, G. R. of Ft. Worth, Texas; Roy of
Artesia, New Mexico; Jim of Burlington, Colorado; Mrs. Loretta Price and
Mrs. Dorothy Hodges both of Sayre; thirteen grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
The grandchildren are J. R. Hurd, Wayne Hurd, Lolita Hurd, Julia Ann Hurd,
Helen Hurd, Joyce Jean Hurd, Ruby Mae Hodges, Jimmy Hodges, Wanda Mae
Price, Freddie Price, Eddie Price; one grandchild, First Lieutenant Roy
Emerson Hurd, died in World War II.
Children present at the dinner were, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hurd and Joyce Ann
of Burlington, Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Faye Hodges and Ruby Mae, Jimmie and
Johnnie, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Price, Wanda Mae, Freddie and Eddie, and the
honorees.
The house was decorated in the holiday season with a brightly decorated
Christmas tree enlivening the rooms.  Friends and relatives called in the
afternoon.
