(25 Dec 1941, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Loftis of Texola, Oklahoma was celebrated in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Sumner on Sunday, December 14 by their many friends who came bringing lovely gifts and good wishes for many happy returns of the day. The evenings entertainment was opened with a song, "Where We Will Never Grow Old," by Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Dennis, Erick; Miss Jean Blair gave a lovely rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" on the violin; Mrs. A. S. Howard gave the reading, "It Takes a Heap of Living in a House to Make It a Home"; a reading by Alta Fay Goforth; little Elma Jean Renner sang, "When You and I Were Young Maggie"; several beautiful songs were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Liter Barnard and Mr. Stanley Cobb; Mrs. Helen Forsythe played a piano solo; and Mrs. Nelms Avant read a poem, "Together Again", which was very fitting for the occasion and was composed by Mr. J. W. Dennis. A beautiful three tiered wedding cake of gold and white with a miniature bride and groom on the top was the centerpiece for the buffet, the cake was flanked on each side by two lighted yellow candles. Lovely refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. C. W. Sumner, Mrs. Elmer Renner and Mrs. Nelms Avant. At the close of the evening the groom of 50 years ago made a short talk, thanking their friends for their many good wishes. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hutto, Mrs. Geneva Cluck, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Masterson, Mr. and Mrs. A. Boren, Mrs. Pearl Blair and daughter Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. C. E.
