Lowrance and good wife will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter, Mrs. J. W. Dennis, next Tuesday, Sept. 4, 1923 and a most delightful day is being planned for them by relatives and friends. S. S. Lowrance was born in Bedford County, Tenn. Aug. 8, 1833 and Mrs. Lowrance, formerly Miss Ester Bilderback, was born in Ohio Dec 12, 1832. They were married in Laclede County, Mo. , Sept. 4, 1853. To this union eleven children were born, five girls and six boys. Two boys died at tender ages, Jim eleven and Tom nine. Linnie died at the age of twenty shortly before her wedding day. Mary Ann married E. Jackson and lives in Erick, Okla. Sarah married James A. Wheeler and died at Blum, Texas, some years ago. Martha married Clint Stone who only lived five months, later she married Joe Holdman and now lives at Springdale, Ark. Henry R. married Frony Jackson. Susan E. (Lizzie) married J. W. Dennis and lives in Erick, Okla. Alex married Lizzie Dennis and lives in Denver, Colo. Sam married Ada Wilson and lives in Blum, Texas. Frank, the youngest is married and lives in Kingfisher, Okla. Dr. and Mrs. Lowrance lived in Laclede County, Mo., till 1888, where all their children were born, from there they moved to Hill county, Texas, where they lived till 1906, when they moved to Beckham County, Oklahoma, making their home for awhile with Mrs. J. W. Dennis and Mrs. E. Jackson, until they moved to Erick some years afterwards. They have resided in Erick ever since, with the exception of two years spent at Bliss, Okla. Dr. Lowrance practiced medicine for 35 years, was a Union soldier and is now drawing a pension from our government for service he rendered to his country. These good old people have 11 children, 46 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren living in Texas, Kansas, California, Oklahoma, Va., Mo., and Idaho, making a total of 123 descendants. They are probably the two oldest residents of this part of the state and both now bids fair to live to celebrate several more anniversaries of their wedding. Tuesday, Sept. 4th, will make them 70 years on the sea of matrimony, and we wonder how many of their friends in Erick will think to call on them on this day.
