ANNIVERSARY.
About forty guests gathered at the home of MR. AND MRS. Q. A. MONROE to
help them commemorate their 60th anniversary of their marriage.
A bountiful feast was spread for the occasion.
Mr. Monroe was married to Miss Emily R. Hile, February 3rd, 1867, at
Akron, Ohio.
The first five years they made their home in Ohio, the next eight years
they lived in Tennessee, after which they resided in Texas for eighteen
years. Twenty nine years ago they came to Oklahoma where they and their
family have exerted a strong influence for bettering the communities in
which they have lived.
Five of their eight children are living and all were home for the
celebration.
Mr. A. W. and J. W. Monroe live near Lone Wolf, Okla.; Mr. W. W. Monroe
lives at Vinson, Okla.; and Mrs. Clara Darnell lives at McLean, Texas,
while Mrs. Cora Anderson has her home in Erick. There are 20
grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Both Mr. And Mrs. Monroe are quite active for people of their age and are
usually in their places at every church service.
