M. and EMMA RIGGS (12 Feb 1925, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): In celebration of the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Riggs a large crowd gathered at their home seven miles south of Cheyenne, Sunday, Feb. 8th. This farm has been their home for nearly twenty-five years and it is a place that will long be remembered by the relatives and friends for the many happy times spent there. The table was beautifully decorated with white and gold. An elaborate dinner was served to the following guests: Mrs. Elmer Daughtery, of Brookfield, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Evers, Mrs. Chas. Young, Mr. and Mrs. John Riggs of Sayre. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Simmonds of Erick, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Riggs of Cheyenne, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith and daughter Gertrude of Tucumcari, New Mexico. The grandchildren were Clara, Milo Clifford and Billy Simmonds, Nellie Roselle, Myrtle Leon and Everett Jillson and Helen Riggs. The oldest grandson Warren Daugherty of Brookfield, Mo., was not present. All present declared it was a very pleasant occasion and wished Mr. and Mr. Riggs many happy returns of the day. (29 Jan 1925, Sayre Journal, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): A Successful Pioneer Fruit Farmer S. M. Riggs of five miles south of Cheyenne was in Sayre on last Saturday trading with the Sayre merchants. While he was in town called to visit this pencil pusher. Mr. Riggs is one of the real pioneers of this section of the state, and he has been a friend of this editor for many moons. Mr. Riggs is one of the successful fruit farmers of this country, and he has furnished the markets of Sayre, Cheyenne and Elk City with fresh fruit from his fruit ranch in season for many years. Mr. Riggs is seventy-eight years of age, but he would be taken for a man of many years younger. He has had active superintendency of his fruit farm for years, and he has made a decided success in that line. On the 8th of February, 1925, he and Mrs. Riggs will have been married 50 years, and on that date they will celebrate their golden anniversary. (8 Feb 1936, Saturday, Sayre Daily Headlight Journal, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Riggs of Sayre celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary Saturday, February 8. Mr. and Mrs. Riggs are pioneer residents of Roger Mills county. They filed claim on a farm in 1901. They lived there until a year ago when they moved to Sayre. Mrs. Riggs Improved. Mrs. Riggs, who has been seriously ill for several weeks, is reported to be improving. They have six children living: Mrs. Inez Doughtery of Brooksville, Mo., Mrs. J. W. Evers, Sayre; Mrs. W. E. Simmonds, Erick; John Riggs, Bellaview, Kansas; Mrs. C. R.
