(4 Oct 1934, Elk City Journal, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Reception Given to Honor The Willisons' Wedding Anniversary. Honoring the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Williams (sic), pioneer Elk City residents, the members of the First Methodist Episcopal church and various city clubs gave a reception for the pair at the church Sunday evening. The Cultus club, Arimathaea club and the Presbyterian Missionary society participated in the program. Mr. and Mrs. Willison entered the flower decorated church to the strains of Mendelshon's "Wedding March" played by Mrs. W. B. Hedlund. An interesting program was conducted throughout the evening. Mrs. L. C. Okerberg, accompanied by Mrs. W. B. Hedlund, sang two vocal selections; Mrs. Carl Nesser presented a reading; Jake Brooks, accompanied by Mrs. Brooks, gave a vocal number; Mrs. G. H. Weaver gave a dramatic reading; Mrs. J. E. Standifer delivered an address in behalf of the Cultus club. Mr. and Mrs. Willison both made short talks renumerating their many friends here and stating they had lived more than half their wedding lives in this community. Following the program, refreshments were served to the large crowd present. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
