V. R. Wootton's Celebrate Their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
With the arrival of fifty-two relatives and friends and a surprise gift of
a bedroom suite, Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Wootton of route 1, Willow, Okla.,
celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary, Tuesday, May 1, 1945.
Mr. and Mrs. Wootton were married in Kerr County, Texas, May 1, 1895. 
They moved to Greer County, Oklahoma in 1911 and homesteaded 5 miles
northwest of Willow, which is their present residence.
Ten children were born to this couple who are all living and married.  Mr.
and Mrs. Wootton have 41 grandchildren, eight of their grandchildren are
serving in the armed forces.
The Wootton children who attended the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. T. J.
Wootton and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wootton all of Willow, Mr. and Mrs.
Chester Wootton and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Steen of Canadian, Texas; Mr. and
Mrs. S. R. Veasey, Amarillo, Texas; Mrs. Dovie Carter, Elk City, Okla.;
Mrs. Fred Foster, Olton, Texas; George A. Wootton, Kerrville, Texas.
Grandchildren and great grandchildren present were Mrs. Archie Steen,
Curtis Steen, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Steen and the children of Mr. Chester
Wootton, all of Canadian, Texas; Audyne Carter, Elk City, Madeline Foster
and Mrs. Falcon Gray and children of Olton, Texas.  Mr. and Mrs. Alton
Wootton and son of Brinkman, Okla., Mrs. Onetta Strickland and children of
Reed, Okla., Miss Eva Lou Wootton and Ivan Wootton of Willow.
Mrs. H. M. Lowrance, sister of Mrs. Wootton and husband and son, William,
of Sayre, Mrs. Wootton's niece, Mrs. Bessie Cain of Canadian, Texas, also
attended the dinner.
Friends of the couple present were Mr. and Mrs. Alf Denton, Mr. and Mrs.
J. M. McAdoo and son Earl, Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Thomas of Willow.
Absent Wootton children were Mrs. Hattie Jones of Visalia, California, and
Mrs. Birdie McAdoo of Valley Farms, Arizona.
