(2 Mar 1939, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Grimes Community News: Mr. and Mrs. J. P. York celebrated their golden wedding February 20, with an open house all day and a dinner at the noon hour. Mr. and Mrs. York have six children living and all were present except one, Mrs. Georgia Nabors of California, who was unable to attend. The children present were: Myrtle, Alanzo, Jodie, Goldie and Sylvia. Guests who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Barnes, Mrs. J. W. Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Cox, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Reeves, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Cox, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Feland, J. S. Feland, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Harrington, Mrs. Bill McLean, Howard Teakle, Mrs. Mattie Laxton, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Marshall, all of Grimes; Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Bales, Mrs. Charles Bales, Mrs. T. W. Donaldson, Mrs. J. W. McVicker, Mr. and Mrs. Will Klopfenstine, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Thurman, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Whittledge, Mrs. L. S. Fletcher, Mr. and Mrs. Will Kent, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Whittledge, Clyde Whittledge, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hartman, and Mrs. E. Hartman, all of Sayre. Mrs. Nora Clancy, O. H. Creason and Mrs. Dulcie Bates of Elk City; Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Spears, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Scott of Bristow, Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Winters, Ruth Winters, and Loren Winters of Thomas; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Spitzer, Robert Spitzer, Doyle Spitzer and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Cross of Cheyenne. The house was beautifully decorated with gold and white flowers and wedding bells, Mrs. York wore a gold necklace which she had worn at her wedding fifty years ago.
