YOUNG, ROY B.
(10 Apr 1960, Sunday, Elk City Daily News, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Mr. and Mrs. Roy B. Young To Celebrate Golden Anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy B. Young will be honored with a golden wedding
anniversary celebration by their sons, Roy B. Young, jr., and Archie
Young, and their daughters, Mrs. Herman Warkentine and Mrs. Carl Jenson,
and their families.  The event will be open house at the Young home, 1303
West Second, from two until five in the afternoon Easter Sunday.
Roy B. Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Young of Berlin, and the former
Miss Dorcas Courtney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Courtney of near
Okarche in Canadian County, were married on April 19, 1910, in Corpus
Christi, Tex.
They made their first home on a farm near Kingfisher, later living in
Edmond and Oklahoma City before moving to their present address in Elk
City some 30 years ago.
Members of the Methodist church, Mr. Young served as chairman of the
finance committee for a total of 18 years, and Mrs. Young is an active
member of the WSCS.
Mr. Young who has been in the insurance business for 36 years has won many
contest awards, and trips for his sales records.  He also is a member of
the Rotary, Masonic lodge and the Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Young has served the local Order of Rainbow for Girls for 17 years as
Mother Advisor.  In addition she is a Past Matron of Eastern Star, sponsor
of ESA sorority, a member of Dahlia Garden club, TAW club and Rotary
Ann's.  She is a past member of Arimathaea.  She lists her hobbies as
ceramics and coppertooling.
The Youngs' family group includes Mr. and Mrs. Roy B. Young, jr., of Erick
and children, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Malone, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Young, Merle
Young, Sue Young and Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Reynolds.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Warkentine and children, Elise, Carol and Johnny, all
of Fort Worth.  Mr. and Mrs. Archie Young and children, Keith and Annette,
of McAllen, Tex., and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jensen of Oklahoma City.
Mr. and Mrs. Young also had a daughter Dorcas Elise, who died at the age
of two.
