Harris, County Superintendent, surprised his many friends in this county last week by going to Texas and getting married. The event took place at Clarendon, and the following account is taken from the Clarendon Banner-Stockman. The Standard extends heartiest congratulations. Harris - Donnell. The friends of Miss Hattie Donnell, one of the teachers in our public school, were very much surprised to learn of her marriage on Wednesday evening. Indeed so profoundly was the secret kept that only a very few of her most intimate friends knew of her intentions until the morning of the fateful day. The gentleman who was so fortunate as to secure this, one Clarendon's most accomplished teachers, is Prof. Harris, county superin-tendent of schools of Roger Mills county, Oklahoma. Prof. Harris was formerly prominent in educational matters in Texas, and knew where to go when he desired a competent assistant; his selection being the best possible evidence of his good judgments. It is not the intention of Mrs. Harris to sever her connection with the public school until the close of the present term. The marriage ceremony was performed at the residence of Mr. Stewart, in the presence of her parents, a few friends, and the teachers of the public schools, Rev. G. S. Hardy, officiating. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
