She was 98-years old. She was born in Okeene, Oklahoma on 13 October 1908, moving with her family to La Verne California in 1923 following the death of mother Lilly McCammon Landis in 1915. Ruby was a member of the Church of the Brethren and a Bonita High graduate. She married La Verne College graduate, Glenn Dee Dellenbach in 1930. They were the first to marry in the new, unfinished Church of the Brethren where the laborers stopped their work long enough for W.I.T. Hoover, a La Verne College President, to conduct the ceremony. Ruby thrived as the wife of a teacher and Boy Scout leader. She camped with the scouts in the mountains and desert, and wa s often a summer- long resident at Old Baldy Council's Camp Tulakes when Dee was Director. She loved to tell the story of the time a bear chased her around the camp kitchen. She often worked at the Los Angeles County Fair as the coat check "girl" and ran the electric foot massagers - a popular innovation for fair goers. During several summers she was the wading pool supervisor at Ganesha Park. Ruby's great sadness was the death of son Laury Dee, age 22, in 1964. Her husband Dee died in her arms at Pomon a in 1997. She moved to Palo Alto to be close to her daughter and grandson's families in 2003. Sister Pearl, age 96, survives Ruby, as do 2 great grandchildren, and a 3rd born 3 days after her passing. Her daughter, Winter Karen Dellenbach, son-in-law Gerry Masteller, grandson Oak and wife Sarah Dellenbach, all of Palo Alto, will miss her.
