All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Koons, Anna Jo Anna Jo Koons 5/7/1925 - 1/7/2007 Anna Jo Koons, a 47 year resident of Newcastle, passed away Jan. 7, 2007. Anna Jo was born May 7, 1925, in a farmhouse near Watonga, Oklahoma, the youngest of 11 children born to Albert and Iva Odell. After high school, Anna Jo worked several years in a bank, taught Sunday School at the Methodist Church, and began a courtship with Bud Koons. They married in November, 1947 and had two children, Ed and Janet. They moved to Newcastle Calif. in 1960 and built a house within walking distance of three of Anna Jo's sisters. Anna Jo loved being a mother and volunteered many hours at Newcastle Elementary School and at Newcastle United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed being a member of the Emigrant Trail chapter of the DAR. She was a devoted grandma to each of her five grandchildren, Adam, Brandon, and Emily, Ben, and Tim. Anna Jo is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bud Koons; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Carol Koons of Auburn; daughter and son-in- law, Janet and Jeff Riswold of Newcastle; grandchildren, Adam, Brandon and Emily Koons; and grandsons, Ben and Tim Riswold. Visitation will be at Lassila Funeral Chapel in Auburn on Wednesday, January 10, 4 - 8 p.m. Interment at the Newcastle Cemetery will be private. Friends are invited to join family on Saturday, January 13 at the Newcastle United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. for a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial fund of the Newcastle United Methodist Church.
