Friday, December 12 1902. Death Claims Dr. LUTES. DIED: In Okeene, Okla., December 4th, 1902, C. H. LUTES, M. D., aged 70 years, 7 months, and 14 days. Dr. LUTES was an invalid and, while he was not supposed to be in worse condition than he has been for many years, he was stricken down with but few minutes warning and died after dressing to go about his daily routine. He was born April 25th 1832 (?almost unreadable) in the state of Pennsylvania lived on his father's farm and attended the public school until 15 years of age when the family moved to Michigan then a frontier state. There he attended college and read medicine. Having attended the Normal school of Ypsilanti and the University at An Arbor. In 1860 he graduated at the Hahnarman Medical College of Chicago. Since that time he has constantly devoted himself to his profession. In 1877, he married Miss Ida R. SMITH, his bereaved wife at Wheeler, Michigan. He has practiced his profession in the states of Michigan, Indiana, Florida, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Being an invalid for 20 years, he had spent much time in traveling in search of better health, for which purpose he came to Oklahoma in the spring of 1901, where he resided until his death. He leaves a brother and a sister in Michigan and a wife and daughter to mourn his departure. The remains were interred in the Okeene cemetery. [NOTE: A headstone nor a grave marker nor a grave record has been found for Dr. LUTES at the Catholic cemetery named Calvary, nor the older cemetery named Collins, nor is he found in Ebenfeld Cemetery. If he is at the Okeene cemetery called Roselawn/Okeene he is in an unmarked grave.] For further information, please contact the Okeene Public Library, P. O.
