Marriott, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, with full military honors. Paul was born June 5, 1915, in Greenfield, Okla. He grew up in Kansas wheatfield country and graduated from the University of Kansas. Paul served his country proudly for 32 years in the USAF. During World War II he was a B-17 pilot with the 8th Air Corps in England. Returning from a bombing mission, his aircraft was shot down over France in 1944. He escaped capture by walking across the Pyrenees Mountains to Spain. After the war, he sold real estate in Fort Worth briefly before accepting Air Force recall during the Korean War. He also served two tours in Viet Nam during the late 60's. Survivors: Son, Ben Marriott and wife, Wida; stepdaughter, Jeanette Hammonds and husband, David; six grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and a sister, Elsie, who is 94 years of age and living in Pratt, Kan.
