All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Joseph Bowman Stott was born on May 27th, 1846 and departed this life on March 3rd, 1929, reaching the age of 82 years, 9 months, and 4 days. He spent his childhood days at the place of his birth in Clark County, Ohio. At the age of five, he moved with his parents to Wisconsin, settling at Janesville. At the age of 17 he volunteered his services for the stars and stripes in defense of our government during the Civil War. He was enlisted and admitted on August 23, 1864, in the 22nd Regiment of Wisconsin Infantry and was honorably discharged on June 24th, 1865. Mr. Stott also served five years of his life on the frontier in the Indian War. He was united in marriage to Miss Anna Winder in the year of 1873 at Janesville, Wisconsin. To this union nine children were born, four daughters and five sons. He with his family moved to Oklahoma in early days, settling near Watonga, and came to Watonga a few years ago, making this his home until the time of his calling by his Lord and Master. There are left to mourn his going his beloved wife, five sons, Charles and Warren of Watonga, Joe of Eagle City, Okla; Will of Canton, Okla; and Frank of Amber, Okla; four daughters, Mrs. F.A. Eisenman of Minco, Okla; Mrs. C.R. Fox of Higgins, Tx, and Mrs. W.S. Childer of Cullison, Tx. One brother and three sisters who live in Iowa and other relatives and friends. One daughter having preceeded him in death. Funeral services were held at the Watonga Methodist Episcopal church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Remains were laid to rest in Watonga IOOF Cemetery in the family lot. Grover F. Krohn officiating.
