Sturgeon Mr. Jesse Eugene Sturgeon, 71, retired farmer and resident of rural Wann, Oklahoma, died at 5:15 PM on Saturday at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday in the Harvestime Assembly of God Church at Dewey, with Pastor Eugene Hewitt officiating, assisted by Rev. James Bell of Oolagah, Oklahoma. Interment will be in the Wann Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. Jesse was born October 23, 1931 in Blaine County near Eagle City, Oklahoma to Martin and Edith Sturgeon. After spending his childhood on the Cantoma Reservation, he moved with his family to a farm in the Rural Wann Area, where he resided with his wife until his death on March 1, 2003, following a lengthy illness. For 35 years Jesse was dedicated to the Royal Ranger Ministry, a ministry of reaching, teaching, and keeping boys for Christ. He served as Commander of the Local Outpost and as Deputy District Commander for the State of Oklahoma. He attended and served at Harvestime Assembly of God in Dewey, Oklahoma for 27 years. Jesse was a lifetime farmer and at one time owned Adams Feed Store in Coffeyville, Kansas. He retired from the SEK Grain Elevator in Coffeyville, Kansas. He enjoyed the daily activities of his farm and spending time with his family. Jesse was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Eugene, his father, mother and 5 older brothers. He is survived by his wife Arline Sturgeon of Wann, Oklahoma; and children Rodney and Teresa Sturgeon of Gentry, Arkansas; Steve and Stacey Sturgeon of Wann, Oklahoma; Linda and Don Moss of Douglas, Wyoming, Neva and Norman Smith of Dewey, Oklahoma, and Ethel and Chuck Smith of Dewey, Oklahoma; Two sisters, Naomi Ruth Rupe and Clara May Massengale; thirteen grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Blaine County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/blaine/blaine.htm
