All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Lindquist's Memorial Park--Layton UT Bennie James Siemens 1930 ~ 2007 CLEARFIELD- Bennie James (Sarge) Siemens passed away on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at the age of 77, after a brief struggle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born May 17, 1930 in Corn, Oklahoma, to Herman Bennie Siemens and Anna Daisy Suderman. Growing up, 'B.J.' would work on his Uncle's family farm in Hillsboro, Kansas during the summer and he came to love farming. He graduated from Watonga High School, in Oklahoma, in 1948, and attended Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma City before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1950. On April 15, 1953, he married Jean Loretta Nelson in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in June of 1965. 'B.J.' served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1971. 'B.J.' and Jean had a typical Air Force marriage. He was stationed in numerous places including: Thule, Greenland; Tachikawa, Japan; Kadena, Okinawa; and Vietnam, as well as several places stateside including Topeka, Kansas, and Hill Air Force Base. After retiring from the Air Force in 1971, 'B.J.' went to work for the Salt Lake Post Office and was a member of the Mail Handlers' Union and retired in 1992. He was given numerous awards and commendations in the Post Office and Medals in the Air Force. Bennie was a member of the LDS Church and served as High Priest Group Secretary. He was an MIA Counselor on Okinawa and also a Scout Leader for many years. He was famous on Okinawa as a 'Lucky Fisherman' and was called 'Sakana-San' by the people there. He was also known in Clearfield for his fishing abilities. He loved Utah with all its places for hunting and fishing. He also wrote books detailing his family history, comprising nine volumes. He also compiled booklets of jokes and philosophy uniquely his own. Bennie is survived by his spouse, Jean; their four children and spouses, Carla (Allen) Dodge, Layton; Jim Siemens, Ogden; David (Ann) Siemens, Riverton; and Linda (Craig) Beck, West Jordan; 12 grandchildren; and siblings Emily (Ed) Combs, Rogers, AR; and Gene (Barbara) Siemens, Yuba City, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Fri. November 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 9th Ward, 838 East 600 South. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and Friday 9:45- 10:45 at the church.
