The first school was held in a pine building. School bonds were voted in 1907 for purpose of constructing a concrete block school building. This school was constructed in the Southwest section of the town at a cost of $5000, on land reportedly donated by Robert L. Williams. According to records in Bryan County Courthouse, the land was purchased from a widow for the sum of six hundred (600) dollars. This concrete block structure did not have suitable foundation and was subsequently condemned. A new school was built in the north part of town and the present school site in 1917. This school housed grades 1-12 until 1965 when the present school was constructed. Bennington Public School is fully accredited by the Oklahoma State Department of Education for grades K-12 and has an enrollment of 269. The High School is accredited to offer 60 1/2 units of study for the 1982-83 school year. Bennington Bears in 1937: Harvey Bell, Dick Thrpin, Jelly Bush, James Hale, Dennis Impson, Mike Dawson.
