The teacher was Miss (unable to read) Phillips, who is now Mrs. Moody and still teaching in our school. At the end of each year we found ourselves one step higher and many times more members were added to our ranks. Among these were Wanda Lee, Vivian Mitchell, Clara Bays and others. Little did that happy group every dream of losing any of their members but when they found themselves on the fifth step up, thirty seven in number there some who couldn’t stand the incline. Among these were Horace Wells, Horace Sharp, Erle Haynie, Etta Mantooth, Ethel Carr, Kenneth Moody, Edgar Hurst, Frank Goza and Juanita Pope. The class felt the loss but did not let it check their upward journey. We entered Junior-High with a feeling that we had really gained a height. Here we must give thanks to Mrs. Roller for those happy days and for the help she gave us on our climb. We lost several members in these grades but when we reach …group from Barwick ready to join our ranks. Among these are Opal Wood, Everett Watkins, Naoma Davis, Mabel Davis and Opal Wood. Some of these became leaders in our School. Thirty five there was of then. Each year found the majority of us ready to take a step up, some years loosing, some years gaining some. On the second step after the first landing we gained Loleta Ray a bright jolly girl and we were all glad to have her. During our Junior year we picked up a member from the class above us, Agnes Black. A member from Graham School also joined us, Edythe Dailey. In September when we started on the last step before the second landing we found we had lost Loleta and Paulyne (unable to read last name) who had moved, Cupid claims three of our girls, Clara Bays, Helen Chivers and Loreta James. Now out of that happy group of thirty-five we have eighteeen. We were ready to clasp hands and take the final step together. One that will take us from C.H.S. forever as students but not in Spirit. -- PORTIONS OF THE CALERA HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK 1932 -- SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY A band of gypsies, in costumes and with tambourines, were seated around a glowing fire, telling tales of singing songs of their old homeland in Romany. An old gypsy sitting at the edge of the circle, saw an airplane land about fifty yards from the camp. A man alighted from the plane and approached the band of band of gypsies. He addressed the circle, telling them he was an aviator from a large aviation field in the South. He asked the old gypsy if she could tell him about the seniors of ’32. The old lady stares into the fire several minutes then began her story as Hoyt Wood sat listening attentively. "The first one that comes to my mind, the old gypsy began, is Edythe Dailey, head nurse for Dr. Pearce at his hospital in Oklahoma City. In the same city, Margaret Morgan is holding the position of teacher of the Commercial Dept. in Hill’s Business College. As the blaze leaps higher there is revealed to me a magnificant mansion. A taxe driven by Everett Watkins, rolls up to the curb. A wealthy lady and her private Secretary, Wanda Lee, get out and enters the house. They have been to an aviation field to see the outcome of the endurance flight. Two of Wanda’s classmates, Mabel Davis and and Hazel Eddins, first class aviaatrix had entered into the contest.
