At one time about 1900 there was a 30 room hotel located there. People came from all around to drink the water. The Indians came to use the black mud on their sores. There were seven springs containing, Iron Alum, Salt, Sulphur, Magnesium and two others. They tasted terrible. One had a black scum which was later tested out as Ichthyol which is used today to treat skin diseases.
