All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Daily Democrat 31 Jan 2005 Buddy Marvin Alford, 68 Services for Buddy Marvin Alford, 68, a longtime Caney-area resident and former California resident from 1959-1972, who died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, will be today at 2 p.m. in the Voca Baptist Church. Rev. Neal Alford and Rev. John Howard will be officiating. He was born May 28, 1936, to Arnold Allen and Lillie Francis (Tigert) Alford at Voca, in Atoka County. He attended school and Caney and Buckholt and worked for Georgia Pacific Co. in Arcata, Calif., as head millwright. After returning to Oklahoma, he worked as an industrial welder for Peabody Galion in Durant for several years and then for Sundowner Manufacturing Co. in Coleman until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Hawaii and Japan. He was a member of the Voca Baptist Church and later a member of a McKinleyville, Calif., Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sammie Lee Alford. He is survived by children Sherri Diane Miller, Albuquerque, N.M., Marvin Keith Alford and wife Cindy, Trinity, Texas, Regina Lynne Alford, Fort Worth, Texas, and William Marvin Alford and wife Samantha, Stringtown; stepchildren Shiryl Ann Trowbridge and husband Larry, Harmony, and J.R. Hobbie and wife Krystal, Kiowa; siblings Travis Alford and wife Betty, Wichita, Kan., Neal Alford and wife Trecia, Douglass, Kan., Bob Alford and wife Ella, Caney, Jack Alford and wife Janice, Fort Worth, Don Alford and wife Gayla, Sulphur Springs, Texas, Carl Alford and wife Vickie, Gainesville, Texas, Mary Gay and husband Jim, Piedmont, and Wallace Alford and wife Vicky, Caney; grandchildren Thomas and Callie Flynn, Stringtown, Tyler Alford, Trinity, Tagen Miller, Coalgate, and Donovan and Dylan Alford, Stringtown; numerous other relatives; and many very dear and loved friends. Interment will be in Caney Cemetery with brothers and brother-in-law Travis Alford, Bob Alford, Jack Alford, Don Alford, Carl Alford, Wallace Alford and Jim Gay serving as pallbearers.
