The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Source: In Caddo Newspaper: "CADDO PIONEER PASSES AWAY". ------------------------------------------------------------------ Funeral services will be held at the Caddo Pentecostal Holiness Church at 3:00 p.m., Friday for James Alexander, aged 76 of Caddo, who died at a Sherman hospital Tuesday after an illness of one week. Mr. Alexander was born November 10, 1862, at Sweetwater, Tennessee and was married to Miss Eliza Powers of Neggs, Tennessee on January 25th, 1882. Mrs. Alexander preceded her husband in death on July 21, 1948. Mr. and Mrs. Alexander came to Caddo, Indian Territory in 1884. Mr. Alexander was a rancher and stockman. He had lived a Christian life since 35 years of age. He was a member of the Holiness Church. Rev. Lee South will officiate at the services and burial will be in the Caddo cemetery under the direction of Holmes Funeral Home. The deceased is survived by five sons: John, Kenefic; Bee, Caddo; Dewey, McKinney, Texas; Henry, Clayton, Okla.; and Jim, Norman, Okla.; three daughters, Mrs. Willie Sells, Farris, Okla.; Mrs. Mary Nations, Caddo; and Mrs. Mable Smith, Caddo; 42 grandchildren, 1 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchildren. James H. Bryant of Durant, is a grand nephew of the deceased. Pallbearers will be Boyd Killingsworth, M. G. Hart, J. N. Broadhead, T. T. Bray, Ott Kitchen and John Gordon. And his age here show he is 76, but that is wrong, for he was 86 years old when he died on July 19, 1949. This James Alexander is my great grandfather and his son, Henry Alexander is my grandfather.)
