All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Daily Democrat 30 Aug 2005 Walter Lee Bush, 76 Walter Lee Bush, 76, Durant, passed away Thursday afternoon Aug. 25, 2005, at his home. He was born May 4, 1929, in Olustee and was the son of the late C.M. and Susie Smith Bush. He was a 1947 graduate of Olustee High School. He married the love of his life Willadean Turner May 25, 1951, in Altus. Walter served a tour of duty in Korea for the United States Army. Shortly after being honorably discharged from the Army he and Willadean moved from Altus to the Durant area in 1954. He was a Barber for 26 years at the Bryan Hotel Barber shop retiring in 1982 to devote fulltime to his ranch. He was a chairman and board member of Rural Water District #5 for over 25 years. He was a Charter member of the Durant Evening Lions Club, serving one year as president, and was a longtime member of Durant Elks Lodge #1963 and was a trustee for nine years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and AMVETS. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Durant and also coached little league baseball for several years. Walter is survived by his wife of the home; sons Jack Bush and wife Paula, Garland, Texas, Jimmy Bush, Durant; daughter, Susan Bush Way, Forney, Texas; brother, CharlieHoward Bush and wife Annette of Olustee; grandchildren, Matthew Bush, McKinney, Texas, Rachel and Sarah Bush, Garland, Texas, Jeannie Evans and husband Brandon, Napa, Idaho, Chelsea Bush, Carrollton, Texas, Bonnie Way of Forney; great grandchildren Cole, Keaton and Mireya Evans of Napa. Funeral services for Walter will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at the First Baptist Church in Durant with Rev. James Robinson officiating. Pallbearers will be Ray Harrelson, C.O. Reese, Howard Parsley, Myrl Smith, Ralph Carter, LaWayne Drury, Dustin Stepp and Phillip Eggenberg. Walter's grandson Matthew Lee Bush will escort his grandfather and the pallbearers to his final resting place at Highland Cemetery in Durant. Military graveside honors will be conducted by VFW post 3916 of Durant. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to cancer research. Family night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Durant.
