Survivors omitted. Tuesday, September 2, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Don W. Baxter, 72 A service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Chapel for Don W. Baxter, 72 Durant, who died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at his residence. The son of Boyd Miles and Leona (Shelton) Baxter, he was born Wednesday, Aug. 29, 1931, in Niland, Calif. Baxter came to Durant in August 1971 from Brawley, Calif He was a contract with B& W Metal Buildings. The buildings he built in Durant include the Department of Human Services, Indian Nation Wholesale and Sitton Motor Lines. He enjoyed camping and woodworking. He married Betty Marie Webster Jan. 7, 1950, in Winterhaven, Ariz. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with Russell Washington, Keith Stanford, David McLean, Gene Woodland, Sean Smothers, Bart Workman and Larry Webster serving as pallbearers. Family hour is 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
