Boyd, Velma Lea

Velma Lea Boyd, 80, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, 
passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2006.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home in Hurst. Interment: 
Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. 
Wednesday at the funeral home.

Velma was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Mead, Okla. In 1952, she married John A. 
Boyd and they moved to the Hurst area in 1953. She was a lifetime member 
of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a longtime member of First Baptist Church 
of Hurst.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, who passed away in 1976, 
and her oldest son, John Andrew Boyd Jr., who passed away in 1973.

Survivors: Sons, Tommy Boyd, David Boyd and wife, Denise, and Jay Boyd; 
daughters, Carolyn Downing and Cathy Edwards and husband, Johnny; sister, 
Viola of Sherman; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and lots 
of friends and extended family members.
