The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs Ella Frances Bate's Obituary-Oct 7, 1948 Mrs Ella Bates, aged 70 years, died at the family home, 922 NE Fourth Street, Thursday evening, at 6:40 o'clock.  she had been ill for the past six weeks.  Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, at two o'clock, in Holmes funeral chapel, with Rev. T.C. Wright officiating. Burial, under the direction of Holmes, was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. Mrs. Bates was born in Old Fort, Tenn., on March 7, 1878, and had lived in Durant since 1903.  She had been a member of the Baptist church practically all her life.  She is survived by her husband, Amos Bates, one son, Ben Headrick, of Durant: five daughters, Mrs Fannie Ledford, Durant: Mrs Dovie Ledford, of Bokchito: Mrs Altha Burns, of Tulsa:  Mrs Claudia Willhite, of Durant; Mrs Opal Head, of Armstrong, eitht grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
