Black, 92 A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Cemetery for Vida W. Black, 92, Durant, who died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at Kings Daughters and Sons Nursing Home. Rev. Roger Tidwell will officiate. She was born Sunday, Oct. 27, 1912, in Beccaria Township, Pa., to George P. and Ethel May (Karhelries) Waddell. She married William Black June 6, 1936, in Rosebud, Pa. She loved to play the piano. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband and being around her family. She was a former member of the Pottsboro Dudes and Dolls. She graduated from Beccaria-Coapori-Irvona High School and George F. Geisinger Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Danville, Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband June 10, 1992; daughter Gail Cole in 2000; granddaughter Michelle Ging in 1987; brother Jesse I. Waddell in 1992; and parents. She is survived by daughters Sondra Leavenworth and husband Jack, Howe, Texas, and Anita Ging and husband Tom, Golden, Colo.; brother C. Calvin Waddell and wife Nellie, Warren, Ohio; granddaughters Ellen L. Hawkins and husband Richard, Tom Bean, Texas, Lora Leavenworth, North Bergen, N.J., Catherine Turner and husband Robert, Las Lunas, N.M., Kirsten Ging, Golden; grandsons John L. Leavenworth, Dallas, Texas, Fletcher Cole and wife Wendy, La Mesilla, N.M.; great-grandchildren Tyler and Cory Hawkins, Tom Bean, Matthew and Ashley Turner, Las Lunas, and Quintin and Madalyn Cole, La Mesilla. Pallbearers will be John L. Leavenworth, Fletcher Cole, Richard Hawkins, Tyler Hawkins, Cory Hawkins, Robert Turner, Clyde Waddell and Jose Mungoia. Family hour will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
