All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Daily Democrat 25 Aug 2005 Birdie Jewel Blankenship, 93 Birdie Jewel Blankenship, 93, of Silo, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2005, at Four Season's Nursing Home in Durant. Birdie was born October 11, 1911 in Rienzi, Mississippi to George Walker and Leona (Toler) Robinson. She moved to Silo in 1920, married Truitt Blankenship on January 28, 1928, in Durant and moved California in 1942 before finally settling back in Silo 2002. Birdie was active in the Historical Society and appeared in the movie "Great American Dream." Her hobbies included reading, sewing, crafts and she loved to do historical studying. Birdie was a member of the Pentecostal faith and she will be missed by all who knew her. Birdie was preceded in death by her husband, Truitt, in 1997; her parents, George and Leona Robinson; daughter, Mary Lou Mulliniks; grandson, Sandy Lee Mulliniks; brother, Joel Robinson; and sister Billie June. Survivors include daughter, Carolyn B. York and husband Chad, Silo; son, Charles Blankenship, Tulsa; sons Gerald Blankenship and wife Jeanie and Sam Blankenship and wife Karen, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister Elizabeth Blaine, Colbert; sister Nell Brennan, Levitton, Penn.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; many other relatives, and a host of friends. Family hour is scheduled for Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Arvin, California. Condolences may be sent to the family at brownsfs@sbcglobal.net.
